Three easy ways to save money at the grocery store:
These three easy tips are how my family has cut down on our grocery budget, and I would love to help you do the same! Check out our free checklist on the website or sign up for our meal plans so I can help you with all three!

1. Make a meal plan – When you have a plan you know what you will be eating and when you will be eating it to avoid food waste at home. Using up the food you have already purchased and spent money on will save you a surprising amount over the month. This might also mean you are cooking at home more, so you may even see more benefits than just saving money, such as feeling healthier!
Having a meal plan also helps avoid impulse stops at the drive-through. This will inevitably save you money by eating at home. It may also save you time, by not having to get into the car drive, wait in line, and then sit there and eat.

2 ways I can help with meal planning:
- Use my meal planning journals – I created these journals to help you meal plan, grocery shop, and also plan your workouts!
- Sign up for our meal planning service. Each week meals are planned and grocery lists are made. All you have to do is get the groceries at your favorite store and follow the plan! I include tips and tricks each month to make meal planning a breeze.

2. Use a grocery list – Knowing what you have and what you need to get will help keep impulse purchases at the grocery store down. It is easy to walk in without a plan, grab what you think you need, and then unpack when you get home to see you have 5 spaghetti sauces. Using a grocery list helps you use what you have and only purchase what you need.
Grocery lists also help avoid impulse snack purchases, do they still happen sure, but if you make a list at home and see what snacks you need vs what you already have, it is more likely you will not grab another sleeve of cookies when you know you already have them at home.

3. Shop generic brands – Finding the off-brands your family likes will also save you money. My family does 90% of our grocery shopping at Aldi. This saves us so much money when comparing prices to other grocery stores. I will admit though, that the other 10% is name-brand items we get at another store.
If you do not have an Aldi store near you, store brands at the places you have by you or already shop at, are often dollars cheaper than their name-brand counterparts. An example I found the other day was a $2.00 difference between the name-brand gallon of milk and the store-brand gallon of milk. I was amazed!
Find what you like and what you don’t then make it work for you!
Doing these three things will help you save hundreds or thousands of dollars for the year. Follow along with my page for more affordable, delicious, and nutritious food ideas!
