Smoothies are a top-notch breakfast option. They are super delicious, healthy, and easily made in minutes each morning and this one is no exception! Smoothies are a great breakfast option for picky eaters, those on the go, little ones, or really anyone who is looking to add some protein and fiber to their diets. They are quick easy and I have a few tips to make them even easier.
This smoothie recipe is full of blueberries and bananas which provide just the right amount of sweetness with tartness. You can use fresh or frozen of both of these fruits, it really just depends what you have on hand because they both work great for this quick recipe.
How do I make this recipe an even quicker one? I like to make smoothie packs for the freezer so a healthy breakfast can be made in minutes and using minimal dishes. Check below to read more about this!
Lastly, a blueberry and banana smoothie are super budget friendly. Bananas are a very cost effective fruit. If you buy a bunch and want to freeze them for the smoothie packs make sure to peel them, cut them, then freeze. Otherwise you will be trying to peel a frozen banana, which I have heard is hard, I don’t know from personal experience……..jk I have done this more than once. I really should learn.
Why You’ll Love This Blueberry Banana Smoothie Recipe
You just need five wholesome ingredients to make this smoothie. There are no powders or supplements in this one (unless you want to add a little protein powder, you do you boo boo). You just need some fruit, yogurt, and a splash of your favorite milk.
This is a higher protein breakfast thanks to the magical Greek yogurt! This stuff makes it creamier, flavorful, and adds that pop of protein that will keep you feeling full until you are ready to eat again.
You can certainly meal prep this which makes life even easier. Check below for my suggestions on how to do this.
Lastly you are going to love that the bananas add just the right amount of sweetness and you didn’t have to add any sugar to this recipe making it a healthy option you can make any day of the week.
Blueberry Banana Smoothie Meal Prep and Storage Tips
You can easily make smoothie packs for making smoothies a more streamlined and faster experience in the morning.
How I do this:
Take the blueberries and bananas and put them in single serving sizes in my Stasher bags or these reusable baggies.
Pop them in the freezer.
Pull it out when I or the kids want a smoothie
Then I add the milk and yogurt because I haven’t figured out how to make it so the frozen milk and yogurt fit into the smoothie cup if it is solid.
If you are looking for a new blender I highly suggest the Ninja Blenders. I have the whole system because I have space to store it and I also use the larger things for food processing for other recipes. But, if you don’t have space or don’t think the other attachments are for you the blender cups are amazing and you should definitely look into the smaller sizes.
Honestly, I think it is hard to store a smoothie and personally just think you should drink it right away. Keep the ingredients frozen in the freezer until you are ready to make it. Just trust me on this one.
