Homemade Chili Recipe

Everyone has their own way of making chili. This is how our family does it and it is a great baseline for you to try out and add what you want! Taste and adjust the spices to your family’s liking.

You can add:

Homemade Chili Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 15 ounces fire roasted tomatoes or regular diced tomatoes
  • 1 can black beans or chili beans
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1/2 an onion minced

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a saucepan with minced garlic and minced onion. Drain the fat and put beef back in the saucepan. Salt and pepper it to taste.
    Add the rest of the ingredients to the saucepan and let it simmer. After about 15 minutes taste and adjust seasoning as you like.
    Continue to simmer until you are ready to eat. Serve with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapenos, crackers, corn chips, or Doritos.
