Apple Nachos – A Quick and Healthy Fall Treat for Busy Families

What Are Apple Nachos?

Apples are a great snack. They crunch, they are juicy, they are sweet or sour or a little of both, and they are colorful.

But if you are looking for a little more pizzazz with your apple, turn it into Apple Nachos!

This takes your everyday apple and turns it into something a little, um, more. The walnuts and chocolate chips add flavor and texture differences. And the drizzle of caramel and peanut butter add the perfect additional sweetness.

Ok, so now as I am typing this I am getting hungry for these!

To perfectly cut the apples and do it quickly you might want to check out this fun apple slicer (as an Amazon Influencer I make a small commission if you decide to purchase at no cost to you). It does two things at once, cores the apple and cuts it into slices saving you time!

Buy apples in bulk during fall or use a variety pack to mix flavors, Gala, Honeycrisp, and Granny Smith all work perfectly. One bag can make several snack platters for under $5

Why You’ll Love This Apple Nacho Recipe

This is a fun fall snack that can be made in minutes. There is no stove, oven, or intense clean up to to do. You just slice, top, and enjoy!

You get to decide what toppings go on these apple nachos. Your kids get to decide what they put on their apple nachos and everyone is happy! Put out whatever you have on hand that can be slightly sprinkled. Healthy options are nuts, granola, yogurt covered fruit things, or raisins and other dried fruits. You can also do other things like chocolate chips, sprinkles, or marshmallows. All toppings are good toppings when it comes to apple nachos.

Not only can this be the quickest and easiest snack you whip up when you get home from work or the kids get back from school, but this is also a perfect no bake recipe to take to a party! Just dip the apples in some lemon juice so they don’t turn brown and you will have the favorite food of the party by far!

If you are into meal prepping, you can easily prep this snack. Just slice the apples and put them in some lemon water. The acid from the lemon will help keep the apple from turning brown.

Tips For The Best Apple Nachos

Keep the apples from turning brown by dipping them in lemon water. How do you do this? Mix together 1 T lemon juice and 1 T water. This will be like a band aide for the sliced apples and keep the air from touching the broken cells.

To make these a little healthier you can make sure to use sugar free caramel and swap the peanut butter for almond butter. But, hey friend, no judgment if you use the sugar stuff and peanut butter and apples is just a classic soooooo….its just and idea :).

To add a little protein you could drizzle it with a little bit of Greek yogurt. Or you could put it in a piping bag and really drizzle it on there.

Meal Prep and Storage for Apple Nachos

If you don’t eat all your apple nachos storing them in an air tight container is the best way to go. Using a glass jar or glass container is my favorite way to do this.

If you are meal prepping these for a future snack, try to keep the peanut butter and caramel away from the apples until you are ready to eat them. Putting the sauces on the apples after they are cut tends to make them really soggy.
