No Bake Energy Bites – Easy, Healthy, and Kid-Friendly Snack

What are No Bake Energy Bites?

No Bake Energy Bites are simple, nutrient-dense snack balls made from wholesome ingredients like oats, peanut butter, ground flaxseed, and chocolate chips. They’re mixed, rolled into balls, and stored in the fridge—no oven needed!

These are a delicious snack that I made after I had the babies. These bites were always in the fridge. They are quick to put together and they last for a long time (if you can stay out of them!) so there was always a healthy snack option available when I was hungry and didn’t have hands available.

The kids now love these as much as I do and they call them flax seed oatmeal and ask for it often. It is easy to whip these up in a few minutes, especially if you buy already ground flax seed. However, it is a really easy to grind your own if you have a blender and this can save you a little money.

Speaking of saving money, these energy bites cost way less than store-bought protein bars. You can make over a dozen servings with pantry staples you probably already have on hand. Flaxseed is inexpensive and adds a big nutritional boost, peanut butter is probably in your cupboard with the chocolate chips, and oatmeal doesn’t cost too much either for how much you get.

No Bake Energy Bites are the bites you and your kids are going to always want around for snacks after you decide to make them!

Why You’ll Love No Bake Energy Bites

There is no baking required for this recipe! All you have to do is dump and stir the ingredients together and that takes 10 minutes or less!

This is naturally sweetened with honey, meaning there is no added sugar besides this. Watch the type of peanut butter you use to make sure you aren’t adding any sugar you don’t want to be eating.

No Bake Energy Bites are also gluten-free and can easily be dairy-free too if you watch what chocolate chips you are purchasing. They are also egg-free meaning a lot of people can eat these with the recipe as is. If you have a nut allergy you can sub out the peanut butter for sunbutter and they work really well too!

These are a great snack to meal prep as they stay in the fridge for up to a week. After you prep these you will be able to have a healthy sweet treat any time of day. No Bake Energy Bites are also really easy to pack in your lunchbox or use as a post-workout snack that is protein powder free.

You can also add in other mix ins as you like. I have some recipes listed below with a few suggestions! Check out these 7 ideas from Well Plated to get a few more ideas.

The kids love getting into this recipe and helping stir, mix, and shape the balls. This is a really easy one to help get them involved in the kitche and see what they are eating!

Tips for the Best No Bake Energy Bites

If the mixture feels a little too sticky to start rolling into balls you can mix in a little more oatmeal or try chilling the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Either of these will help reduce the stickiness of it before rolling.

Use a small cookie scoop so you are able to measure out the balls into even portions. Scoop it and then gently roll the portion in your hands to get a really round shape.

Store these in a sealed container to keep them soft and chewy in the fridge. They las a lot longer in the fridge than they do on the counter.

If you have peanut allergies in your household but want to try these, use sunbutter or another peanut free butter of your choice in place of the peanut butter.

Meal Prep and Storage Tips for No Bake Energy Bites

Store these in air tight containers in the fridge. This way they will stay fresh and can last up to one week!

If you aren’t able to eat these in a week’s time, or you need snacks for the future, you can easily freeze these and thaw them as you need them. This is also a great way to make them last at a hot baseball or football game you might find yourself sitting at.

It is really easy to double or triple this recipe so you can batch cook it and then freeze them for future use.
