The BEST Honey Buttermilk Chicken Marinade

Ingredients
  

  • cups AE Dairy's buttermilk
  • 1 –1.5 lbs chicken thighs or breasts
  • ½ cup caramelized onions
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes adjust to taste

Method
 

  1. Slice 1 onion and cook in a pan with a little oil and a pinch of salt for about 10–12 minutes until soft and golden.
    Blend or finely chop the caramelized onions so they mix smoothly into the marinade, or put them in whole.
    In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, onions, olive oil, honey, and all seasonings.
    Add chicken and coat well. Cover and refrigerate:
    Minimum: 4 hours
    Best: overnight for maximum flavor
