Tips for the Best High-Protein Banana Split
Using ripe or nicely yellow bananas will add some natural sweetness to your high-protein banana split. There is no sugar in the recipe besides what is naturally found in the fruit and what is found in AE Dairy’s Banana Custard yogurt and your protein of choice. It is really the perfect sweetness, especially if you let the protein powder and yogurt sit together.
Chilling AE Dairy’s Banana Custard yogurt with your protein powder before putting it on the fruit will give it a creamy texture, because the yogurt is so nice and creamy, and it will let the protein powder have time to dissolve, although it is delicious if you eat it right away too because it is really hard to stay out of!
If you want to make high-protein banana splits for meal prep, I suggest making sure the bananas are covered in the yogurt mixture. Otherwise they might turn colors on you. The sliced portion of the banana exposes the enzymes which makes them turn brown when they touch air. If you can make sure to cover the sliced parts this will not happen as quickly.
If you aren’t able to find white chocolate protein powder vanilla works just as well!
Meal Prep and Storage Tips for a High-Protein Banana Split
You can meal prep this dish if you are sure to keep it in an airtight jar or container. Use the above tip of making sure to keep the exposed banana slices covered in yogurt and air tight jars and your high-protein banana split will last for a few days in the fridge.
If you are planning on prepping for a day further than 3 days away, or you aren’t sure when you are going to eat it, mix AE Dairy’s Banana Custard yogurt with the protein powder and put it in the fridge. Then when you are ready to eat it slice up the fruits and put it all together.
This recipe is a single serving size, so you can make as many or as little as you want with it. It is great for mason jar meal prep or using cute little containers of your choice.
If you want a little crunch and more texture you can easily add granola or chopped peanuts to your high-protein banana split. Just keep these separate from the other parts until you are ready to eat because they may loose their crunch otherwise.
Estimated Protein
The exact ingredients you use, such as your protein powder of choice, will change the protein content of your high-protein banana split, but you will most likely be getting between 25-35 grams of protein per serving. Making this high-protein banana split a great choice for any meal or snack!
