What is a Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet?
Skillet meals are so quick and easy. They require one pan and they are always a hit with the kids!
Think of all the flavors of your favorite classic bacon cheeseburger, then make it in one skillet, that is what this recipe is going to do for you! There is bacon, ground beef, and the sauce ingredients mix together so well that it is just phenomenal. There is no gill required, no baking, and minimal effort is needed to be able to put this delicious meal on the table.
This bacon cheeseburger skillet meals also happens to be low carb and uses minimal ingredients making it a win for everyone! You can make this in minutes and feel good about it.
This recipe got me through having two small babies (mine are really close in age) and I have always loved cooking but dang if somedays it was just hard. This skillet meal was a healthy option to going out to eat that could literally be made in minutes and with pantry staples.
With two little babes, we were also not flush with cash. So using pantry staples we were able feed the family a good healthy meal with vegetables, seasoned ground beef, and lots of flavor. You can easily make the meal to serve four people and it is under $10 total.
It’s gluten-free, low-carb, can easily be dairy-free and also egg free. You can serve this to anyone! The kiddos also love this meal. They have always loved ground beef recipes and this one has built in vegetables making it mom approved too.
Making this bacon cheeseburger skillet gives you the burger-craving fix without having to go to the restaurant!
Why You’ll Love This Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet
This meal saved me when the babes were little and now when they are bigger and we are running here there and everywhere for practices, games, and school drop off/pick up. Everything you need to cook can be cooked in one pan for this recipe. This makes doing the dishes super easy because there are barely any!
Real food, real fast. This meal is made in 30 minutes or less (even if you forget to thaw the meat like I usually do). You can have a healthy burger style meal in minutes without going to the drive through.
You are going to be able to satisfy your burger craving without having to flip any burgers! The bacon cheeseburger skillet meal tastes just like a cheeseburger and it is a lot easier to put it together. You literally just have to brown the meat then toss the rest in.
Not only is this meal mom approved but it is kid tested and kid approved. Which is a huge positive in our household.
This is also a freezer approved meal. You can toss everything into a freezer safe container and toss it in the freezer. Then you can crock pot it when you are ready for it or throw it into a skillet and it will be ready to be covered in cheese when you are ready to make it.
Meals that can be meal prepped are my favorite. Brown all the meat, add the sauces, canned tomatoes, but skip the cheese and toss it in the freezer. Reheat the meal and then cover it with cheese for a delicious meal prepped meal.
If you are taking it to work it warms up really well in the microwave and it is also great over a yummy salad, it gives burger bowl vibes when you do this.
Tips for the Best Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet Meal
You get to decide what level of fat to meat ratio of ground beef you are using which is awesome for this recipe! If you pick one that is higher in fat then you will want to make sure to drain the excess grease from the beef before adding in the sauces and tomatoes. It will leave a greasy feeling otherwise.
A great way to save time and keep the house from smelling like bacon for days use bacon bits. Or you meal prep bacon by taking a day and making all of it and then freezing it, essentially making your own bacon bits.
To add some variety to your bacon cheeseburger skillet you can always add chopped onions or some pickles. This will give it a real take out burger feel.
To serve this we have put it over a bed of lettuce for a yummy low carb burger bowl. The kids like to have a slice of garlic bread with it or you can even put it over rice!

As always storing food in an airtight container is the best way to do it. If you are looking for a good glass container that goes from fridge, to freezer, to oven these glass containers cannot be beat. Click here to see my favorite glass dishes. They come in all sizes and make life so easy because they are glass so they can do anything.
You can easily freeze this meal by browning all of the meat and adding the sauces and canned tomatoes, skip putting the cheese in the container though so you can add it when you reheat it giving it the gooey goodness of melted cheese over the top. It will freeze really well for about 2 months.
If you made this and are meal prepping leftovers (yay for leftovers!) they will reheat well in the microwave or the skillet depending on what you have available.
