It is so hot out here! We have several heat warnings for the next couple of days, so heating the house while cooking is not something I am interested in, how about you?
Instead, I am going to be utilizing some of the cooking methods I have that do not use the oven. Here are a few ideas you could try too!
- Air Fryer – I use the Ninja 8 in 1 (my siblings make fun of me and how much I talk about this appliance. We were naming off what household item we would be if we were in Beauty and The Beast, and they decided I would be this hands down). You can cook so many things in so many ways with this appliance and it does not heat the house!
- Stove-top cooking – Check out our recipes for stove-top cooking such as, stir fry, skillet meals, grilled cheese, or pasta will keep you from overheating the house.
- Make sandwiches – Don’t heat the house at all by making chicken salads, deli sandwiches, or BLTs.
- Grill – Although you have to stand outside to do this, it keeps all of the heat out of the house! We utilize setting timers and blue tooth meat thermometers so we do not have to stand outside to flip or watch the food constantly.
One of our favorite things to grill or smoke is a pizza! Have you ever tried this? The cheese gets a wonderful smokey flavor.
We usually start with an Aldi take-and-bake cheese pizza, these are very large and cost under $7.00 at our store. Then we put leftover chicken and BBQ sauce on it or we let the kids pick their toppings and put them on their section of the pizza, whichever we have on hand. The kids have fun personalizing it!
Next, set the smoker around 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Take the pizza with toppings on it and place it on the grill or smoker, close the lid. Then cook them for 15-30 minutes.
If you are using a premade frozen thin crust pizza it will be closer to 15 minutes. If you are using a take-and-bake pizza it will be closer to 30 minutes, just keep an eye on it for the doneness level you prefer!
Enjoy a pizza and keep the house cool!
