Three Breakfast Items to Put in Your Freezer

Is breakfast a crazy time at your household? Does it slow you down in the morning or do you end up skipping it and wish you hadn’t? Here are three ideas that can help make breakfast easy by utilizing your freezer.

At our house, we utilize the freezer for convenient breakfasts. Some of the items are homemade and some are store-bought. We have what is probably considered a normal household, I try to make things homemade, but sometimes the kids just don’t like those as much as they like the store-bought versions. Or, store-bought is easier and there is nothing wrong with that! I do what I can to make sure my family has nutritious and delicious food to fuel their bodies and sometimes that means buying convenience items because momma needs to stay sane.

However, here are three swaps I have found to be easy to include in our freezer that make life a lot easier at breakfast time. These are also three items that I have found I can make homemade. When I make them for breakfast for the first time it is really easy to double or triple the recipe. Then I freeze what we don’t eat for breakfast that day.

  1. Waffles and pancakes
  2. Breakfast burritos/sandwiches
  3. Fruit packs for smoothies

Waffles and pancakes are easy to make at home and store in the freezer. As I mentioned above just double or triple the recipe. After making them I let them cool completely then place a small piece of parchment or wax paper in between them so they come apart easily when I want to use them. Then I place them in a baggie or my Rubbermaid Brilliance containers and stash them in the freezer.

Another thing we love to have in the freezer is breakfast burritos and sandwiches. These are protein-packed and are perfect for either breakfast or a quick lunch if you need something healthy. They are also easy to prepare in large batches, make them for breakfast one day and make a few more. Wrap them in foil and place them in a labeled baggie or freezer-safe container (I love my Ello Brand ones) in the freezer until you need them. Then I warm them up in the microwave or the oven depending on my mood.

The last thing on my list for making the morning easier is to make fruit packs for smoothies. Grab your favorite freezer container and load up the serving sizes of fruits you want to put in the smoothies in the morning. I usually throw spinach in with mine as well, especially if it is close to being less than ideal for salad (reduce waste y’all!). Then in the mornings just drop in your fruit pack and favorite liquids for smoothies into your blender. Blend and you are done! I love making my fruit packs in my reusable baggies, they are the perfect size for smoothies and they keep away the freezer burn.

Using these three tips has helped my family save money and makes the mornings go more smoothly! Another way to make the morning go even smoother is to subscribe to my monthly meal plans. I will send you meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks with a grocery list so you don’t have to spend time deciding what to have! I love helping people reduce the stress cooking and meal prepping can create, so let me know how I can help you!
